GENERAL INFORMATION

THE INFINITY OF THE SEAS. Earthly and Universal Seas, from the Microcosm to the Macrocosm.

The Seas, explored in a systematic interface between Human Civilization and Nature, throughout the various landscapes of the Planet or Universe, virtual or physical, connecting People, Eras, Continents, Worlds. Topics such as Environment, Incipient, Contemporary and Potential World Seas will be explored, documented and presented.

LOCATION: The Greek Islands Kefalonia and Ithaca, identify the Historical and Mythological existence of the Homeric Odyssey, the metaphor of the Human struggle against the omnipotence of the Nature, the overseas adventure, the endless Wandering of the Human Being in the fragile worlds of physical and metaphysical spheres, amid untamed elements, in search of its Origin and Life Paths towards the Truth of Existence.

ORGANIZER: The Ionion Center for the Arts and Culture. Programs developed under the Auspices of the Prefecture of the Ionian Islands and the Municipality of Kefalonia.

APPLICATIONS: open from December 10th 2022

International Arts Exhibition opening date for group international exhibition : September 17th-18th 2022.

ElIGIBLE are All disciplines and interdisciplinary projects in Arts, Sciences and Technologies, Education and Research, included Environmental projects, Literary Arts , Performing Arts and Music, Applied Arts, Visual Arts , New Media.

Are invited projects personal of collective, Academic projects, Schools, Colleges, Universities and in Arts, Sciences, Research involved Institutions & Activists.

2.TIMELESS  LIGHT

‘’Timeless Light’’ is a challenging  approach to the Light  through Arts, Sciences, Philosophy, Religion,  Technology. The entire project  is a path investigating the Nature of the Light.  Monumental thoughts, scientific axioms, wisdom through the ages are inviting creative and provoking minds to add a new  vocabulary,  a new approach to the Light  as Entity.

3. SUSTAINABLE HORIZONS & TOXIC ENVIRONMENTS 

International Academic Program on sustainability and environmental issues.

Based on the natural environment of the island Kefalonia the programs are focusing on:

  • Architecture: Research and creation -digital mapping of ancient monuments
  •    pre- earthquake and modern constructions                                                 -abandoned /ruined villages and villages not affected by the earthquake
  •    filming processes and exhibitions to be installed in abandoned villages

  • Wetland of Koutavos : Research and protection of the birds and amphibian life of the Koutavos lagoon.
  • Mapping: the pre-industrial era technology, wind mills, traditional olive factories and limestone-asbestos kilns of Kefalonia.
  • Agriculture: Traditional and modern practices, cultivation, products, plants and biodiversity, ancient seeds resources, chemical soil pollution, forests and valleys. Vineyards, fruit groves and olive groves are available to the universities for field study and agricultural activities.

4. GEOLOGY,ANTHROPOLOGY, PALEOANTHROPOLOGY.  Arts and Educational processes, Academic Research  based on Kefalonian Caves .

  Field Studies: exploration, research, on site courses, documentation or art creation and performances in the Caves- karst formations of Kefalonia. The island has more than 40 karst phenomena, between them the Cave Drogarati, the Cave Melissani, the Cave Zervati. The above –between others- are fully accessible and offered for study and exploration in terms of Geology, Anthropology, Paleoanthropology and Arts.

Events based on the Kefalonia Caves history and geology is on the action plan 2022 of the Palliki Municipality and the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, Department of Speleology and Paleoanthropology (details will be announced).
